The choice of lamps is a troublesome issue. Function, price, weight, volume, versatility and even appearance will affect your final decision.
Consider the use:
A. If you don't need to walk at night, and you don't need to use it to find water at night, you need to have a leisurely dinner in the camp, and you don't need ultralight headlamp. In this case, the simplest LED light is sufficient. Not only the lighting time is long, but also convenient and economical to use.
B. If you are often out in the wild, you may experience the experience of crossing mountains and ridges in the rain in the middle of the night. In this case, you need an incandescent light source headlamp with sufficient brightness, which is not only waterproof and reliable but also energy-saving and has a longer range.
C. If you plan to go for a long-distance trip, then you need enough lighting time and the necessary lighting brightness, then dual-light source lamps are your best choice.
Consider the environment:
The special requirements of lamps and lanterns in ordinary outdoor environments are not very high, but we must prescribe the right medicine in some special environments.
A. Winter
The battery performance at low temperatures is greatly reduced. Unless you have enough physical strength to carry enough spare batteries, the best choice in the northern winter or snowy mountain environment is a dual-light headlamp with an external battery box. The operation of the headlamps can be done easily, even when wearing thick gloves.
B. Diving
Diving lamps emphasize absolute waterproofness and reliability, sufficient lighting time and high brightness requirements, and it is best to have spare bulbs that can be used immediately. The requirements for volume and weight are not very demanding, and the user flexibility of hand-held lamps is better.
C. Caving
The environment in the cave is even more sinister. Headlamps must be sturdy, waterproof, and need high brightness, such as running water and falling rocks. Of course, it must be used in conjunction with a helmet, and a dual-light source lamp is suitable. If the light bulb suddenly goes out during the process and causes a dilemma, you can turn on the next light source in time. But the range of LED is not enough. At this time, dual-tube dual-bulb headlamps are very useful.
D. Search
If used for outdoor rescue and search, brightness and range are undoubtedly the first, so two sacrifices are usually made: sacrifice the bulb's life for brightness or sacrifice continuous use time for small size.
