Safety Course for Underwater Cave Explorers.

News Trade News2021-09-09 20:33:15

Since ancient times, caves have always been a great attraction for human beings. For thousands of years, all peoples of various skin colors on the earth are full of dreamlike visions of the magical underground world hidden in caves scattered all over the surface. What is dreamlike for many people is just a desire for cave explorers: to enter the underground world through climbing, crawling, swimming, and diving. As one of the most dangerous sports in the world, underwater cave exploration has always attracted people’s attention. The success of challenging death lies in “not afraid of danger, but never ask for help.” This is exactly what this article will tell novice explorers to understand.

1. Mask:

Different from the waterproof goggles for swimming, the diving mask has a nasal pouch to balance the pressure and prevent water from entering the nasal cavity.
Snorkel: It allows people to breathe without lifting their heads off the water when snorkeling. In scuba diving activities, divers usually use the snorkel to perform surface operations (such as observing the underwater environment, etc.).

2. Fins:

Provide underwater driving force. Unlike swimming, scuba diving only relies on the movement of the legs to achieve movement, and the hands are usually used for other things (such as underwater photography, manipulation of other equipment, instruments, etc.).

3. Diving suit:

Even if diving on the hottest days in the tropics, it is best to wear a suitable suit because the deep water temperature is relatively low, and diving activities are not as intense as swimming under normal circumstances. Cold may cause fatigue, unresponsiveness, muscle cramps, and other symptoms, so a fitted, suitable thickness diving suit is absolutely necessary.

4. Buoyancy regulator (BC):

It is a device to control buoyancy. When on the water surface, the diver can easily float on the water surface. When underwater, the best buoyancy state (neutral buoyancy) can be achieved by fine-tuning the air in the BC.

5. Air cylinder:

It is usually filled with high-pressure air or mixed gas for divers to breathe underwater. Cylinders need to be sent to professional organizations for inspection on a regular basis. For ordinary driving enthusiasts, it is rare to buy gas cylinders by themselves and usually just rent them from diving shops.

6. Air pressure regulator:

People cannot directly inhale the high-pressure gas in the cylinder, which requires an air pressure regulator to adjust the pressure. The regulator consists of a first stage and a second stage. The first stage is used to connect to the BC, and the second stage is used for breathing. Many divers are equipped with a spare second stage.

7. Diving instruments:

the necessary diving instruments are pressure gauge, depth gauge, compass, diving chronograph counterweight, and counterweight belt: counterweight is to balance the buoyancy generated by the diver, diving suit, various diving equipment, etc. Usually, the counterweight is made of lead, which is tied to the diver’s waist by a counterweight belt. If there is an emergency that needs to rise immediately, the diver can quickly untie the counterweight belt and discard the counterweight. (It should be emphasized here that it is very dangerous to rise to the surface in deep water quickly)

8. Lighting equipment:

headlamps, flashlights, many people think that as long as there is a flashlight, but in fact, this idea is very dangerous! Because according to different situations, such as poor visibility of deep pits or lighting by the brightness of the flashlight, the help is very limited, and when holding the flashlight, it will take up space for one hand, and you may not be able to respond in an emergency. , So it is recommended to use headlamp. Brightest LED waterproof headlamp is a good choice.

Auxiliary diving equipment

(1) Diving computer:

It can record various data of diving activities and can directly remind divers of important parameters such as decompression time.

(2) Diving knife:

There are many uses, mainly to prevent divers from being entangled in fishing lines, fishing nets, or seaweed.

(3) Diving buoys:

buoys must be placed on the surface of the water during diving to inform surface vessels to avoid.

(4) Diving Diary:

It is used to record your driving experience, and it is best to be certified by the diving master of the diving activity.

(5) Medicine box:

used to put some commonly used medicines, such as band-aids, seasickness medicine, cold medicine, laxatives, etc.

(6) Underwater record board:

used to communicate fully with diving buddies underwater.

(7)Underwater headlamps:

an essential tool for night diving.

(8) Equipment bag:

It is specially used to store diving supplies and equipment. Of course, valuable things are best carried with you (such as diving computers).

Professional diving equipment Diving photography and video camera: There is a special waterproof housing for underwater photography and videography. Now many photographic equipment manufacturers have introduced waterproof housings that match their own photographic equipment and some special underwater photographic equipment.
